Resurgence Beginnings

Resurgence Baptist Church....who are we & what is this all about?

For many years I have served on staff in local churches, and have been blessed with experience in every aspect of ministry.

* Student Ministry

* Education / Discipleship

* Worship Leadership

* Missions / Mobilization

* Children's Ministry

* Preaching

* Recreation Ministry

and so much more....

One of the blessings of being completely involved in every aspect of church ministry life has been the understanding of how God works in so many different ways in the local church.   Years and years of prayers and preparations has allowed God to nudge me (or push me) into starting a local church from scratch.   And that is what God is doing with Resurgence.

Why Resurgence?

Because now, more than ever, the church needs to have a resurgence of His Word, His Spirit, His ways and His truth.   Jesus is desperately needed in every facet of our world, but churches often lose sight of how we are the serve Him in the midst of a culture that is difficult to figure out.   

As we have been studying the book of Titus, one harsh truth is made clear.  "They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed." Titus 1:16 (NASB)

That is what is difficult today, there is so much that we have but we have lost track of the truth that God's Word is and often times ministry wheels just spin and spin but go nowhere.    We DO so much but because our lives are not built on the absolute truth of God's Word nothing becomes of it.

Resurgence literally means, "An increase or revival after a period of little activity, popularity, or occurrence."

This sounds like us today, especially after nearly a year of Covid grinding things to a halt in many cases.

God is prepared a resurgence.   Revival is coming, and it is coming because we as Christ followers need to adhere to the truth of God's Word.   And when we follow God's Word as He intends lives are completely changed.   People are transformed into the image of Christ and we cannot help but glorify His name in all the earth.

So we begin this resurgence....

* Small.   Holding one another accountable to adhere to God's Word no matter what the world says.

* Intimate.   We do not seek to become an entity where we do not know one another or love one another as God intends.  

* Honest.   We we struggle we will share our struggles, when we rejoice we will share in His joy.

* Purposeful.   Our mission is:  Growing, Equipping, Sending.   For the Worship and Glory of God.

We desire to begin by growing in God's Word, then being equipped by every good work, and then sent out into the world.   The world that is desperate for the good news of Jesus Christ Himself.   For the Worship and Glory of God.   Not for us, but to His name be the glory.

That is Resurgence.   

I invite everyone to pray for this church startup.   Pray God will be glorified in everything we do and His Word would be declared truthfully and boldly.   Finally pray that for those who are involved, and that we can be used in mighty ways for His glory.

It may not be for everyone.   It may not be for you.   However we believe with all our hearts that His resurgence is needed desperately in western Mechanicsville, Virginia.   To the ends of the earth.
